Four quarterbacks who have taken the NFL by storm

The NFL season is just three games in but four quarterbacks are already having very impressive seasons.

Patrick Mahomes

The 23-year-old quarterback has made an incredible start to the season with the Kansas City Chiefs. In the first three games he has thrown 896 yards and 13 touchdown passes.

Mahomes has helped the Chiefs to win all three of their games so far this season. Mahomes’ career stats are very impressive, having played just four games in his career and has thrown 1,180 yards and 13 touchdown passes.

At just 23 years of age, he has made quite the impression so early on in his NFL career and looks to have the potential to be a top quarterback in the future, if he continues to perform like this.

Ryan Fitzpatrick

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback has been immense so far this season. In his first two games, Fitzpatrick threw 819 yards and eight touchdown passes.

The Buccaneers won their opening two games and pushed the Steelers all the way in their third, with Fitzmagic throwing three touchdowns and over 400 yards.

The 35-year-old’s career stats are remarkable, as in 134 games he has thrown 27,810 yards and 181 touchdowns. With quarterback’s going on into their forties nowadays, Fitzpatrick has the potential to thrown another 10,000-12,000 yards by the time he reaches forty.

Matt Ryan

The 33-year-old Atlanta Falcons veteran has also been mightily impressive this season. In the first three games, he has thrown 897 yards and seven touchdown passes.

However, despite his form the Falcons have won one out of their opening three games. Ryan has already thrown 30 yards and three more touchdown passes than at this stage last season.

In his career Ryan has played 161 games, throwing 42,693 yards and 267 touchdown passes.

Drew Brees

Then we have the final of this fab four. Drew Brees has been best of the lot, which is not surprising. Brees has helped the New Orleans Saints to win two out of their opening three games.

In his opening three games he has thrown 1,078 yards and eight touchdown passes. Brees also broke a record in Sunday’s overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons.

This was the record for the most completed passes for a QB in NFL history, overtaking the legendary Brett Favre, with 6,326 completed passes to his name. Brees is also now just 417 yards short of breaking Peyton Manning‘s record for career passing yardage of 71,940 yards.

Brees has played 252 games, throwing 71, 523 yards and 496 touchdown passes, and at 39 he still has a couple more years before he might think about retiring.

All four of these quarterbacks have been awesome in the opening few games of this season, but the interesting thing will be if they can continue to perform so well. The other question is how well their teams can do if Mahomes, Fitzpatrick, Ryan and Brees continue to perform so well.
