2016 NFL Re-draft: Prescott, Wentz, Bosa battle for top spot

  1. Jaguars – Jalen Ramsey

In spite of what we know now and after his tumultuous exit from Jacksonville, the Jags made an excellent pick at this juncture and took one of the best defensive backs in the game. Why twist from that? (Original pick: Jalen Ramsey).

  1. Ravens – Laremy Tunsil

Tunsil suffered a slide on draft day due to a controversial video that surfaced of him smoking from a bong whilst wearing a gas mask. He only had himself to blame for this fall, but he has nevertheless turned into one of the premier pass protectors in football.

We could have just as easily stuck with Ronnie Stanley here – a fine servant for Baltimore – but where is the fun in that? (Original pick: Ronnie Stanley).

  1. 49ers – Chris Jones

DeForest Buckner was a fine pick by the Niners, but Chris Jones is arguably the best 3-tech in the league not named Aaron Donald.

He’s not as well known nationally, but is a tone setter on the defence of the Super Bowl champs and is due for a monster contract that highlights his true worth sooner rather than later. (Original pick: DeForest Buckner).

  1. Titans – Ronnie Stanley

Jack Conklin is a notch below Stanley in ability, so the real-life Raven gets the nod here. (Original pick: Jack Conklin).

  1. Bears – Deion Jones

Despite decent coverage skills for a linebacker, Leonard Floyd has been an underwhelming pick for the Bears after being taken so highly.

Jones on the other hand, was taken by the Falcons in the second round and despite some injury issues, has been to the Pro-Bowl and was named to the Pro Football Writers All-Rookie team in 2016. (Original pick: Leonard Floyd).

  1. Giants – Xavien Howard

Howard is a top 10 corner in the NFL, but less recognised than many of his inferior peers. Eli Apple on the other hand has been a monumental bust in the league.

The Giants were lucky to recoup a 4th rounder for him but reported disruptive behaviour and immaturity issues have since seen him fail to make much of an impact wherever he has been.

Apple was not a priority free agent this off season and initially looked to have agreed terms with the Las Vegas Raiders before balking at a deal. He did recently find a new home, signing a one year “prove-it” deal with the Carolina Panthers. (Original pick: Eli Apple).
