A decade of drafts: Re-drafting the 2018 NBA Draft

7th pick: Collin Sexton

Cleveland took Collin Sexton 8th overall in the 2018 draft. It was the pick received in the Kyrie Irving trade and the Cavaliers must have hoped it was going to be much higher, but the Nets overperformed and they had to settle for Sexton at eight.

Sexton has been putting up numbers this year, passing 20 points per game and shooting a good clip on his threes. As a playmaker, though, there’s plenty to be desired with just three dimes per game and 2.4 turnovers.

Maybe it’s all empty numbers. There’s been enough to suggest some hope for the Cavs, however, particularly if his backcourt mate Darius Garland can flourish.
