Franchise Sports Talk Baseball: Episode Four

Home » Podcasts » Franchise Sports Talk Baseball: Episode Four

The fourth episode of our baseball podcast covers what has been a relatively uneventful week across Major League Baseball.

The proposed rule changes are the main talking point. News surfaced this week that MLB are considering making the designated hitter universal. They are also looking to expand Major League rosters to 26 men and introduce a 20-second pitch clock. There is discussion of a new rule about multi-sport talent, which comes after the Kyler Murray saga.

With relief pitchers becoming ever more relevant, MLB have discussed introducing a three-batter minimum for pitchers. This could change the strategy of the sport.

Unsurprisingly, Bryce Harper and J.T. Realmuto feature again with the Giants and Phillies linked respectively. Miami have demanded Sixto Sanchez in exchange for Realmuto, while the Giants ownership and front office met with Harper this week.

Spring Training begins next week and we are no closer to learning about his next team.
