Joe and Sam discuss the opening weeks of the Major League Baseball season, including the Red Sox’s early struggles, the Rays’ brilliant start and Christian Yelich continuing a very impressive Barry Bonds impression.

Yelich has started the season on fire, taking a particular liking to St Louis Cardinals pitching. The reigning National League MVP is in the sort of form that could see him retain the award.

The Boston Red Sox won the 2018 World Series, but have suffered a very difficult start to the 2019 campaign. Chris Sale has been hit around the park on several occasions, while Mookie Betts is some way off his 2019 self. The Tampa Bay Rays have taken a commanding lead in the American League East at this early stage as a result, while the Yankees struggle with injuries.

With under a month played, it can be a challenge to tell what means something and what is simply a hot streak or slump.
