Joe and Sam react to the Cardinals, Nationals, Yankees and Astros booking their places in the Championship Series.

The Washington Nationals recovered from a 2-1 deficit to knock the favourite Los Angeles Dodgers out of the MLB postseason thanks to a monumental effort from their starting pitchers. This is the furthest the Nationals have got in the playoffs since leaving Montreal.

St. Louis Cardinals blew the Atlanta Braves out of the water in Game Five of their Division Series, putting them through to an unlikely Championship Series berth.

In the American League, the Houston Astros were forced to Game Five by the Tampa Bay Rays after Justin Verlander struggled on short rest. Gerrit Cole picked the team up, however, and carried them to a relatively comfortable Championship Series against the Yankees, who swept the Minnesota Twins.

Houston and New York were always the likely matchup. In stark contrast, few would’ve picked the Cardinals and Nationals to make this stage.
