Our third baseball podcast covers a relatively quiet week around Major League Baseball.
San Diego Padres are the main talking point, having been linked with several of the sport’s premier free agents. Bryce Harper, Manny Machado and Gio Gonzalez have all been mentioned as targets for San Diego. Other than that, it has been a low-key week in MLB.
J.T. Realmuto’s trade murmurings continue, though, with the Padres and Cincinnati Reds apparently leading the way. Both are trying to contend again after lengthy rebuilds, and are teams to watch in the remainder of the offseason. The St Louis Cardinals get a mention too as the National League remains very competitive. Plenty of big free agents are available, though it is under a fortnight until pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training.
Joe and Sam discuss a quiet week in MLB, focusing on the Padres’ ambitious moves, the underrated Goldschmidt and the wide-open National League.
