Grandal recently signed a four-year pact with the ChiSox, joining Jose Abreu in committing his long-term future to the organisation as they look to become competitive in the American League Central after a long rebuild. Chicago are expected to still be active over the rest of the winter, potentially adding a big-name pitcher to join Lucas Giolito.
Elsewhere, Gerrit Cole, Anthony Rendon and Stephen Strasburg have all been quiet on the rumour mill. The Chicago Cubs have been pursuing a trade for All-Star Kansas City Royals star Whit Merrifield. After a long winter last time round, the early moves have been made by the White Sox and Atlanta Braves with no other teams active yet.
Madison Bumgarner and Didi Gregorius have both been linked with the Philadelphia Phillies over recent days.
