The Boston Red Sox cruised past the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2018 World Series.
Boston defeated their arch rival Yankees in the American League Division Series, having won 108 regular season games. The Houston Astros were a much better match for Alex Cora’s Red Sox, but the 2017 champions were unable to live with the dominant pitching and red-hot line-up.
The Dodgers had a less relaxed journey to the World Series. Beating the Rockies in a 163rd game was stressful enough, before a belting seven-game Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. A comfortable Division Series against the Braves was a reminder of the Dodgers’ National League dominance, however. Los Angeles have lost consecutive World Series.
The Red Sox were far superior in the Fall Classic, riding multiple career years and a wave of momentum that carried them from the first pitch of the regular season through to postseason glory.
