For the second year in a row, the NFL has sent a strong lineup of games to London (less said about the Browns vs Vikings, Kizer vs Keenum blowout of two years ago the better).
The LA Rams are a very strong football team on paper. They have talent on each side of the ball and the ability to win when it matters.
It is clear that the Tampa front office want to wait and see. Other QB's such as Dak Prescott may sign long-term contracts before Winston, but the extra time to examine Winston may prove valuable in the long run. Bruce Arians has the ability to strengthen Winston's game and I am excited to see what is next for one of the most interesting players in the past decade.
Ben Roethlisberger’s Steelers faced off against Kurt Warner’s underdog Cardinals in a match up for the ages. This for me ranks as one of the very best Super Bowls, filled with interesting narratives, wonderful plays and a tremendous finish. This review will take a step back to February 1st 2009 and address what could have been for the plucky Cards.
The one word that comes to mind when describing the 49ers last year is ‘unlucky’. Jimmy Garoppolo’s innocuous injury, accomplished attempting to rush for an additional yard, ended his season and consequently the 49ers hopes.
The Jets have not made the playoffs since 2010, and only really looked close in 2015 when they finished 10-6.
Arguably the biggest criticism of the 2018 squad is that they were quite dull and boring. Besides the ‘Miami Miracle’ play against the Patriots, I cannot think of anything of relevance that they did last year.
Two years ago the Jaguars were on the periphery of greatness, but a questionable ref call and the excellence of Tom Brady denied the Jaguars their first Super Bowl appearance.Blake Bortles was resigned to a new contract, and their defence was expected to improve. In reality the Jaguars took a major step back last year, finishing 5-11 amid player disharmony and dispute. Since then, the Bortles experiment is finished and the Nick Foles era has begun.
Dave Gettleman must know that his future employment as an NFL general manager depends on the success of Daniel Jones. He has a reputation of being overrated in Carolina and was fortunate to receive the opportunity in New York. Gettleman is unpopular in the harsh New York media and has made questionable free agent decisions in the past. He has been a staunch defender of Eli Manning despite the fact that the 2019 version of Manning cannot be considered a top 20 starter within the league.
Since the final game of the 2018 NFL season, when the Arizona Cardinals suffered a defeat to the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona have been in possession of the first pick of the 2019 draft.
