What to expect from the Cleveland Browns in 2018

Home » NFL » Cleveland Browns » What to expect from the Cleveland Browns in 2018

The Cleveland Browns have not had a very successful time over the last three years, but they are hoping they can turn things around this year.

Cleveland have finished their last three seasons with records of 3-13 in 2015-16, 1-15 in 2016-17 and last season they finished 0-16.

This means that in the last three seasons they have only won four games out of a possible 48. This does not make for good reading for the Browns and is something that they will hope to improve on.

Cleveland will be hoping that they can carry their preseason form into the regular season, having beaten the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions in the warm-up games.

The Browns are in the tough AFC North, where they will face the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Sunday, Cleveland begin their campaign against the Steelers.

How will the Browns play

The Browns are known for playing more of a passing game than a rushing one. This, however, can be a much trickier route as it puts more pressure on the quarterback. Cleveland are more likely to be intercepted and have possession turned over or even worse give away a touch down from an interception.

Some of the Browns’ key players are receivers and quarterbacks. The two players who would most likely be mentioned in this category are Jarvis Landry and Tyrod Taylor.

Key players

Cleveland have a handful of key players that will be vital to how they get on. Here’s a bit of information about their main men:

Jarvis Landry

The 25-year-old wide receiver was traded from the Miami Dolphins this year. He scored 13 touchdowns last season and has over 4,000 career yards to his name.

Joel Bitonio

The 26-year-old outside tackle has been with the Browns since 2014, when he was a second round draft pick. Bitonio is a bit of a tank coming in at 6 foot 4 inches tall and weighing, 305lbs. He is one of the best offensive tackles in the league.

Myles Garrett

Garrett is a 22-year-old defensive end drafted in 2017. He recorded seven sacks last season. Garrett is not the only athlete in his family with his brother Sean Williams, being a professional basketball player in Turkey.

Jabrill Peppers

Peppers is a 22-year-old safety and return specialist. He was a first round draft pick back in 2017. Peppers is known for being a superb athlete and a very quick runner, which would makes him a threat on kick returns.

Larry Ogunjobi

The 24-year-old defensive tackle joined the Browns back in 2017. He got one sack and 15 assists for sacks last seasons, so he will be key to how they shape up defensively.

Tyrod Taylor

The 29-year-old quarter-back joined Cleveland this season from the Buffalo Bills. He has thrown 51 career TD passes and over 9,000 career yards, which is an impressive stat. Taylor’s ability to rush gives Cleveland an extra option offensively.

How will The Browns get on this season?

As mentioned earlier Cleveland have a tough schedule, however if their key players can shine they will certainly improve on their record in the last three seasons.
