Following the official presentation of the NHL 22 editions, EA Sports finally gave us a glimpse of the Frostbite engine. This represents the biggest visual update in franchise history and promises the best graphics up to date.

As you may know by now, both NHL 22 editions will come with the Frostbite engine. On top of that, EA promised to improve the user experience, mobility, facial expressions, and many more; also adding the Superstar X-Factors, a new set of skills that can make a huge impact on the game. With these X-Factors, the superstars can take their skills up a notch.

Also, EA Sports said that the game will feature a never-before-seen atmosphere, graphics, and interactive features that will make this one of their best sports games yet.

NHL 22 editions: Prices and benefits to different NHL 22 versions

As we mentioned before, there will be different versions of NHL 22. For starters, we’ll have the standard edition, with the X-Factor edition bringing more features.

According to Real Sport 101, the NHL 22 Standard Edition is $59.99 on Xbox One and PS4, $69.99 on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, and the NHL 22 X-Factor Edition is $99.99.

What’s the difference between Standard and X-Factor on NHL 22?

The standard game, while enhanced by the Frostbite engine and the updated rosters, is just another regular delivery from the NHL saga. It will include:

  • Up to 2 HUT Diamond Player Choice Packs (1 per month for 2 months)
  • 5 World of Chel X-Factor Zone Ability Unlocks
  • 2 Be A Pro X-Factor Slot Unlocks, XP Boost, and Bonus Trait Points
  • 1 Unlocked Hockey Bag

The X-Factor, on the other hand, takes the game to a whole new level by helping superstars take their skills to new heights, including these features:

  • Up to 10 HUT Diamond Player Choice Packs (2 per month for 5 months)
  • 5 World of Chel X-Factor Zone Ability Unlocks
  • 2 Be A Pro X-Factor Slot Unlocks, XP Boost, and Bonus Trait Points5 Unlocked Hockey Bags
  • NHL 22 for Next.Gen and Current-Gen consoles
  • 3-Days Early Access
  • HUT X-Factor Player Choice Pack (2 of 25)
  • HUT X-Factor Power-Up Starter Pack
  • Up to 4 HUT X-Factor Power-Up Packs (1 per month for 4 months, starting in November 2021)

All things considered, and even though it’s nearly twice as expensive, it seems like the X-Factor version of NHL 22 is clearly superior when it comes to value for money. So, you may want to save a couple of bucks to get the full package rather than the standard version.

Where to pre-order NHL 22?

NHL 22 is expected to be released on October 15. Nonetheless, fans can already submit their pre-orders at the Microsoft Store, Amazon, PlayStation Store, and Best Buy; including several discounts for EA Play members.

Also, as we mentioned before, those who pre-order the X-Factor edition will get 3-day early access, meaning that they can start playing as soon as October 12.

When will NHL 22 be on Next Gen?

NHL 22 has a huge edge over NHL 21, which was playable on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, it was just the standard Current-Gen user experience. NHL 22 is expected to launch on October 15 on Next-Gen with exclusive experiences and features for every console.

Obviously, that has raised several concerns for users who buy the game for an older console and then want to upgrade it.

According to Fansided, “The Standard Edition does not include Dual Entitlement on any platform, meaning you don’t get to upgrade for free. What remains unclear is if you’ll have to pay full price again for the PS5 version if you already own the PS4 version, or if you can pay the difference in price as a sort of upgrade fee.”

NHL 22 won’t come as cheap as most fans would like, but judging by what we’ve seen thus far, it’ll be worth every penny.
