The Washington Capitals ended the San Jose Sharks six-game winning streak with a 5-1 victory at SAP Centre on Thursday. T.J Oshie bagged a brace and an assist, whilst Alex Ovechkin scored his 39th goal of the season for the Caps who won for the fourth time in the past six games.

Patrick Kane had a goal and two assists for the Chicago Blackhawks to extend his point streak to 16 games and his assist streak to 15 games in the Hawks 5-2 victory against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.

Matt Murray made an NHL Career high 50 saves in the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Centre on Monday. The win was a welcome relief for the Penguins after losing their previous four games.

Joe Thornton passed the great Gordie Howe for ninth in assists in NHL history, as the San Jose Sharks won their sixth straight game, a 7-2 victory against the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Monday. Thornton claimed his 1,050th assist in his 1,541st regular season game.

Randy Carlyle was fired as coach of the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday after a run of poor results. Immediately he was replaced by Ducks general manager Bob Murray. The 64-year-old has never coached before but has played the game. He has played 1,008 NHL games, all with the Chicago Blackhawks, and has scored 514 points, with 132 goals and 382 assists.

       

Cam Ward made 43 saves to help the Chicago Blackhawks register their seventh win in a row, after defeating the Detroit Red Wings 5-2 at United Centre on Sunday. The Blackhawks have certainly turned the corner after losing five straight games in a row before their current purple patch. It was also a good night for Hawks’ Kane who extended his points streak to 14, in a current run that has seen him score 44 points in his past 22 games.

Vladimir Tarasenko completed a hat-trick 16 seconds into overtime to give the St. Louis Blues a 5-4 win against the Nashville Predators on Sunday, and continued the Blues hot streak, who have now raked up six straight wins.
