Edmonton Oilers fired President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Peter Chiarelli on Tuesday. The Oilers currently sit in seventh place in the Pacific Division with 49 points, three behind the Colorado Avalanche, who hold the second wild card into the Stanley Cup playoffs from the Western Conference.

The St. Louis Blues handed the Anaheim Ducks their seventh consecutive home loss a 5-1 defeat on Wednesday.

Alex Ovechkin tied Sergei Fedorov for most NHL points by a Russian born player, with 1,179 points, but was on the losing side as the Washington Capitals lost their seventh straight game, 6-3 to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday.

Jonathan Quick completed his 302nd career win and moved into fourth place on the NHL’s all-time list, in the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 victory against St. louis Blues on Monday.

Mikko Koskinen signed a 3-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. It has an average annual value of $4.5 million.

       

Congratulations to Peter Laviolette who became the 20th NHL coach to win 600 games when the Nashville Predators defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-1 on Monday. Laviolette, has also coached with the New York Islanders, Carolina Hurricanes, Philadelphia Flyers and Predators in his 17th season in the NHL.

Teuvo Teravainen has agreed terms with the Carolina Hurricanes on a five-year $27 million contract on Monday. The forward has 145 points in 211 games with Carolina since being acquired in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2016.
