J.J. Watt is back at his very best

The Texans have been building a super team in recent years, yet they always seem to be missing that one piece who can take them to the promised land. This year it looked like they had it in the form of talented quarterback Deshaun Watson, however the team have been rather turbulent in recent weeks.

J.J. Watt, on the other hand, has been the one shining star on defence amidst the team’s poor 2-3 record for the season.

So far, he has already produced 22 combined tackles, seven of which were tackles for a loss. His ability to pressure the quarterback is unrivalled, considering he has amassed six sacks for the season, as well as recording 10 quarterback hits. Finally, J.J. Watt’s four forced fumbles have caused havoc among opposing offences who simply cannot contend with his outstanding pass rush. Speaking of which, it helps to have fellow defensive end, Jadeveon Clowney, in the team who adds further fire power to the defensive line.

Watt’s efforts have not gone unnoticed as he was awarded with the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for September. It is the sixth time he has been presented with the award, tying the record with Hall of Famer Bruce Smith.

In what could be an incredible comeback season, J.J. Watt looks set to win a fourth NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, though Khalil Mack may have something to say about that.
