Sky Sports have announced a four-year digital and and broadcast partnership with the NBA.

Sky will also broadcast WNBA games starting in the 2019 season.

Over 170 NBA games will be shown throughout the 2018/19 season, including a record-breaking number of primetime weekend games. Four games will be shown on Christmas Day in a 10-hour marathon.

NBA fans will be treated to classic games from 6am on Tuesday 16th and a range of other content. The media giants also have access to the marquee events throughout the year. The NBA London game between the Wizards and Knicks will be broadcast live on Sky, along with All-Star weekend, the playoffs and the draft.

Fans will be treated to extensive digital and mobile highlights too. A nightly top 10, individual game recaps and a ‘fast break’ daily roundup will be available.

The week 7 matchup between DeAndre Ayton and Devin Booker‘s Phoenix Suns and LeBron James‘ Los Angeles Lakers was picked out as one of the key primetime games.

NBA EMEA Vice President, Elsa Memmi said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland, with a record number of weekend primetime games, a season-long schedule of live games and programming, and extensive highlights available online and on mobile, Sky Sports will be the true home of the NBA for fans.”

Barney Francis, Sky Sports’ Managing Director, said, “This is great news for our customers and for NBA fans in the UK and Ireland. We’re partnering with a really exciting sport that has a fascinating history and an even more compelling future. With some of the biggest stars in world sport we know the NBA will bring drama and entertainment to our customers week after week, available across our many different platforms.”

This news was only made public on the eve of the NBA season. Sky Sports have left it late, but delivered for British basketball fans after the NBA’s relationship with BT ended last season.
