Four players the Atlanta Falcons should pursue before the 2021 trade deadline

With only a few days left until the NFL trade deadline, the Falcons trade rumors in 2021 are starting to heat up. At 3-3, Atlanta is far from out of contention in the NFC South. Of course, they will obviously need a lot of help, leading to a lot of Falcons trade deadline news in recent days.

In a way, it’s surprising to see that there are actually Falcons trade targets. A few weeks ago, Atlanta looked like a team that could be trading away key players. But with back-to-back wins, it might be worthwhile for the Falcons to explore their options on the trade market to see if they can find an impact player or two.

Falcons trade rumors 2021

In terms of the Falcons trade targets, there are a lot of possibilities.

Atlanta ranks near the bottom of the league in both rushing yards and points allowed.

The Falcons have clear needs on both sides of the ball. Odds are, they won’t be able to address all of them. However, let’s take a look at some of the top Falcons trade targets that could be shipped to Atlanta before the deadline.

Chris Conley

Chris Conley isn’t being used in Houston despite the Texans having a terrible season.

That means the Falcons could probably acquire him at a cheap price and give him more opportunities in their offense.

At this point, Atlanta has nothing to lose.

Of the team’s top four receivers this season, only one is a legitimate wide receiver. Conley isn’t going to be a dynamic game-changer, but the former Georgia wide receiver would give the Falcons a proven option on the outside and add some experience at that position.

Derek Barnett

It looks like Derek Barnett’s days in Philadelphia are almost over, so the Eagles will likely consider trading him before the deadline since it doesn’t look like he’ll be re-signed.

Plus, it doesn’t look like the Eagles will be a playoff contender in 2021. Scheme-wise, he might not be a perfect fit for the Atlanta defense. But the league’s 30th ranked defense should consider all options who might be made available at the trade deadline, and Barnett will surely be one of the best players if he’s available.

Bryce Callahan

There are rumblings that the Broncos could trade a cornerback at the deadline with Bryce Callahan being one of the more likely options.

While he’s turned into an excellent slot corner, the Falcons could use help just about everywhere in their secondary.

Callahan would surely be an upgrade for the Atlanta secondary and a viable trade target for Atlanta if the Broncos make him available.

Marlon Mack

It’s almost a given that the Colts will trade Marlon Mack before the deadline, and the Falcons should be one of the teams that throw their hat into the ring.

Mike Davis hasn’t gotten the job done this season while Cordarrelle Patterson isn’t necessarily a traditional between-the-tackles running back.

That could make Mack the type of running back that the Atlanta offense needs right now. He was a 1,000-yard rusher as recently as two years ago, so there should be no question that he’ll be able to help a rushing attack that ranks 27th in the NFL.
