Five potential Jae Crowder trade packages before the deadline

Home » NBA » Jae Crowder trade rumors 2022: Potential Crowder trades

The Phoenix Suns are one of the best teams in the league. Jae Crowder was seen as the one missing piece for the Suns to win the NBA championship but the relationship between the two sides is obviously over. Jae Crowder trade rumors in 2022 began as the season started and it is just a matter of time before the Suns send him packing.

In the following lines, we will analyze the most likely destinations for the veteran. Jae Crowder trade rumors in 2022 are not going to bring one of the biggest trades in NBA history but can make the difference between a good team and a contender.

Jae Crowder trade rumors in 2022

Crowder trade news is one of the hottest topics at the moment in the league. We went through all Suns potential trades options and put up a list of the five most likely destinations for the veteran.

Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are the top contender to land Jae Crowder before the trade deadline. Crowder was drafted by the Mavericks back in 2012 and spent two and a half seasons with the team.

Back then, he was just a young player still searching for his spot in the league but now he may return as the missing piece that will make the Mavs a real contender in the West. A Crowder trade fits perfectly with the Mavs.

The only player they will need to send to Phoenix in return for Crowder is Reggie Bullock. The shooting guard is not making a big impact on the Mavs team as he shoots barely over 32% from deep. Crowder would be much more productive for the Mavs as he can bring an even higher shooting percentage and more importantly, he can do the dirty work on the defensive end. The Suns will also benefit from this trade since they will get a reliable spot-up shooter who will have many opportunities in the Suns’ offense.

Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers are one of the best teams in the Western Conference at this point. They did a great job bringing in Jerami Grant in the off-season and adding Jae Crowder may be all the Blazers need to reach the NBA Finals.

Damian Lillard missed some time in the opening month of the season and even without him, the Blazers proved they are a serious contender. Crowder would bring another versatile skillset to the already talented Blazers’ roster.

The Blazers have good team chemistry and a player with a winning mentality like Crowder can be a great addition to this group. In order to land the veteran, the Blazers will need to send Justise Winslow and Shaedon Sharpe to the Suns who are young players who can find their roles in Phoenix.

Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves made the Playoffs last season and with the addition of Rudy Gobert, they are targeting much more than just advancing to the post-season.

The Wolves roster is packed with young talent and Crowder can be that veteran who can help this team win. Crowder would be able to fill in multiple positions with the Wolves and would be a perfect fit in the three-spot in the starting lineup.

Crowder does not need many shots on the offensive end to be productive for a team and that will be particularly visible in Minnesota. The Timberwolves have multiple trade packages they can offer for Crowder and the best among them is the one with Taurean Prince and Naz Reid. Prince is a versatile player who can be a great asset off the bench for the Suns while Reid can cover the paint when Deandre Ayton is not available.

Nuggets

Nikola Jokic won back-to-back MVP trophies in Denver but could not lead the team deep in the Playoffs by himself. Now, since starting point guard Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. are back from injuries, the Nuggets look like a much better team and the addition of Crowder will take them to an even higher level.

Jeff Green already brings some veteran presence at the forward position and by adding Crowder, the Nuggets would make significant progress on the defensive end. For this deal to go through, both teams would need to include multiple players.

The Nuggets would need to give up on Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Zeke Nnaji and Peyton Watson and the Suns would send Crowder and Dario Saric in return. Saric and Jokic are represented by the same agent which makes this deal even more likely to happen. After missing the last season, Saric will have a chance to get back on the court by playing limited minutes with the Nuggets. The Suns, on the other hand, will get a reliable shooter in KCP and will get rid of two large contracts that have not proven worthy.

Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are having a terrible start of the season and major changes are about to happen. Jacque Vaughn has been named as the head coach after the firing of Steve Nash but he will not be the only major change in Brooklyn.

With Kyrie Irving always finding a reason to be out of the game, it is all about Kevin Durant, and no matter how good he still is, he cannot carry the Nets on his back alone.

Jae Crowder will be a great boost for this Nets team both on and off the court and will not come with a high price tag. Brooklyn will need to give up on their recent acquisition Royce O’Neale whose 10 points per game are something that Crowder can easily cover.
