Star cornerback Jalen Ramsey has signed a five-year $105 million extension with the Los Angeles Rams.

This makes him the first NFL cornerback in history to sign a $100 million extension.

The total amount of guaranteed money is $71.2 million, $43.7 million of this will be his signing bonus, plus his 2020 and 2021 salary.

This new deal will keep Ramsey in Los Angeles through the 2025 season.

The $105 million extension makes him the highest paid cornerback of all time, by far. The closest to this is Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre White who recently signed a $70 million extension which could go up to $82 million.

Ramsey was taken fifth overall in the 2016 NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He would go on to play three seasons in Jacksonville before being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in his fourth season.

After three seasons in Jacksonville Ramsey was getting frustrated so he demanded a trade. In October of 2019, the Jacksonville Jaguars traded Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams.

In the trade Jacksonville received a 2020 and 2021 first round draft pick and a 2021 fourth round pick. The Los Angeles Rams got an All-Pro cornerback in Ramsey.

During his four seasons in the NFL, Ramsey has made 243 combined tackles, 10 interceptions and 49 pass deflections. During these four seasons he has made three pro bowls and one all-pro selection.

On the NFL top 100 Ramsey was ranked 37th overall which put him third amongst cornerbacks, this goes to show that his peers see him as a top cornerback in the NFL.

Now that Ramsey has signed this huge deal it will reset the market for his position. The cornerbacks who have contract extensions coming up will be looking at deals like this to see what they can get.
