Four teams who should consider a Jamison Crowder before the deadline

With the Jets in the midst of another lost season, the Jamison Crowder trade rumors for the 2021 trade deadline are running rampant. Granted, there is a lot of Jets trade deadline news, as they are one of the worst teams in the NFL and have a few players they could unload. But there seems to be a lot of focus on Crowder specifically.

Crowder is in the final season of his three-year contract with the Jets. During his tenure in New York, he’s been a quietly productive member of one of the worst offenses in the league. In other words, Jamison Crowder’s trade value is significant if he lands with the right team.

Jamison Crowder trade rumors 2021

While Crowder has never had a 1,000-yard season or put up eye-popping numbers, he’s an excellent fit as a slot receiver. Any team looking to fill that need during the second half of the season could surely use him. With that in mind, let’s explore some of Crowder’s best potential trade destinations if the Jets choose to move him.

Ravens

The more receiving options the Ravens can give Lamar Jackson, the better.

Right now, tight end Mark Andrews is the team’s second-leading receiver with Sammy Watkins continuing his injury-plagued career.

The good news is that Marquise Brown is having a breakout season and is a legitimate deep threat for Baltimore, even with Watkins out of the lineup. That could make a slot receiver like Crowder a dangerous weapon on short and mid-range passes. Frankly, when Watkins isn’t healthy, the Ravens just don’t have reliable targets outside of Brown and Andrews, creating a glaring need for someone like Crowder.

Packers

Aaron Rodgers has already taken Green Bay a long way despite lacking dependable receivers outside of Davante Adams.

While Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard are viable targets, Crowder would be an upgrade. In the long run, the Packers probably aren’t going to survive with Adams alone. If they want to make Rodgers happy and be serious Super Bowl contenders, they need to add an established wide receiver at the trade deadline.

Colts

If the Colts can keep Carson Wentz healthy, they’ll have a chance to make a playoff push.

The problem is there is a huge drop-off at wide receiver once you get past Michael Pittman.

That position group has been hit hard by injuries, making things even more difficult for Wentz. A receiver like Crowder can serve as a reliable safety net for quarterbacks to go when they’re in trouble, which is exactly what Wentz and the Colts could use right now.

Saints

Until Michael Thomas returns, the Saints are going to be a little short-handed at wide receiver. Even with Thomas, the New Orleans offense doesn’t have a lot of established options.

Keep in mind that leading receiver Marquez Callaway is in his second pro season after going undrafted, so he’s not the ideal no. 1 or even no. 2 wide receiver.

Crowder would provide a proven option and give opposing defenses someone that they need to worry about. Ultimately, the New Orleans offense could feature Thomas, Crowder, and Alvin Kamara, which would be a nice trio to lead the way and make Calloway more of a complementary player.
