It’s that time again. The NFL London games take stage, and this time New York are powering up their Jets to take on the Atlanta Falcons across the pond.

After four weeks, both sides sit with a 1-3 record. The Jets, though, have been the talk of the league these past few days since their overtime win against the Tennessee Titans.

Jets vs Falcons London 2021

After three weeks of tough defeats, rookie quarterback Zach Wilson getting sacked and turning the ball over, there was beginning to be reason for concern, even with the team in a rebuilding process. However, in just their second home game so far this season, Robert Saleh’s men came good and put on a show in Week 4.

As Week 5 rolls around, it’s a chance for the Jets to get back to back wins for the first time in the new era. It is clear that this Jets team will get steadily better and better as the season goes on and that could potentially continue in London this Sunday.

The Jets have only played in England’s capital once before, in a 27-14 win against division rivals Miami Dolphins, so it will be interesting to see whether they can keep the record a positive one.

There are three keys to victory over Atlanta, and despite losing three of their four games so far this year, it has been the mean green defensive line that has been the real positive note for Saleh’s side.

Keys to Jets victory

Losing free agent signing defensive edge Carl Lawson in the offseason before he even took to the field as a Jet was tough to take for this franchise. However, the men already on the team have stepped up. John Franklin-Myers, Sheldon Rankins, Quinnen Williams and Bryce Huff have all impressed.

That’s one of the keys to victory. The defensive line must show the same hunger and commitment that we’ve seen so far this year.

Of course he has to get a mention. Secondly it’s the quarterback, Wilson. The former BYU college QB stepped up in week four and if he can do it again and light up the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium then that will put the Jets far down the road to win number two.

We will see a lot more of the same play calls from offensive coordinator, Mike LaFleur. Add to that the inevitable Wilson bootleg runs out the pocket and powerful throws down field and maybe we will be seeing more Jet touchdowns.

With the final key to victory, it’s the wide receiver who had that key to unlock the Titans defence last week, Corey Davis.

The free agent signing, who was passed up by the Titans when he was shown the door last year, gave them a lesson on why they shouldn’t have let him go.

This time he will be wanting to give the Falcons the same treatment in North London. He seems to be Wilson’s best and most reliable target, and the 2 to 84 partnership is certainly blossoming. With that in mind, the duo needs to continue to prosper in against Arthur Smith’s Atlanta.

Those are the keys to victory for the Jets and if followed, I can see a win for NYJ in London. It won’t be easy, though, against a Falcons defence with star names such as, Grady Jarrett, Dante Fowler Jr and AJ Terrell.

Even still, we are in for a fantastic game. More importantly, we’re in for a great spectacle. Will it be a Jet plane heading back up to the sky after Sunday with a second win of the season? We will find out.
