Kent Bazemore

The Lakers should contact these five teams about a Kent Bazemore trade

Kent Bazemore trade rumors 2022 are starting to appear. The Lakers want to get rid of him and DeAndre Jordan to clear roster spots for the trade and buyout market. And, considering their contracts, that might not be that hard to do.

Bazemore’s salary 2021-22 of just over $2 million makes him quite a moveable player right now. Any team who gets him could either try and flip him or just waive him to clear a roster spot. But more than that, he could also provide a somewhat decent boost off the bench for a couple of teams.

Kent Bazemore trade rumors 2022

While Kent Bazemore‘s stats this season have been unimpressive, he has a record of being a solid defender and somewhat streaky scorer.

He’s on the downside of his career at 32 years old but it’s not like teams can afford to shut the door on players right now with the COVID situation. That’s why today, we’re going to let you know about the most likely destinations for Kent Bazemore.

5. Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ defense suffered a massive blow with Ricky Rubio‘s injury, and Isaac Okoro has been in and out of the lineup with constant injuries. Bazemore can give them similar production to Okoro off the bench: A couple of buckets every now and then and some above-average defense.

The Cavs have been one of the most surprising teams in the league this season, so we expect them to be buyers near the deadline. Bazemore’s contract could fit their books without having to give up much for his services, so it’s a perfect scenario for them.

4. Mavericks

Luka Doncic is a magnificent scorer but he can’t play defense to save his life. Jalen Brunson can get you buckets but everyone can get buckets on him as well, and so it goes. The Mavs need another guard/forward who could get a stop every now and then.

Bazemore’s stats this season aren’t great. He’s averaging 4.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game on 33% shooting. But to be fair, those numbers should only trend up as he gets a bigger leash on a team that actually needs him.

3. Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers have suffered from injuries and COVID-19 more than any other team in the league recently. Paul George is expected to be on the sidelines for quite some time, and there’s still no confirmation on Kawhi Leonard‘s potential return.

The Clippers have had to fill their roster with scraps and spare parts. Adding Bazemore would give them another 3-and-D presence at a fair price. Tyronn Lue is great at making adjustments and he could hide his offensive flaws depending on the matchup.

2. Pacers

The Indiana Pacers have already given up on the season, so they could use a player on an expiring deal to get salary off the books. They’ve also struggled to fill in their roster with most of their backcourt and wing players out with injuries and COVID-19.

If the Pacers gave Lance Stephenson a chance, there’s no reason to think that Kent Bazemore couldn’t get some run there as well. They’ll lose Caris LeVert at some point in the season and there will be plenty of minutes and shots up for grabs.

1. Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers desperately need help, and desperate teams often make questionable decisions. That means that they’re likely to go into panic mode as we approach the deadline, so they might well be tempted to get Bazemore.

The Blazers boast one of the worst defenses in the league and they need a quick turnaround to convince Damian Lillard of staying put. Bazemore won’t be the guy to put an end to their woes but he’s the kind of low-risk/high-reward player desperate teams often pursue.
