The NFL UK games 2022 were a matter of speculation the minute the 2021 NFL London schedule wrapped up. It was an enjoyable couple of days in the capital, but British American football fans are quickly looking for their next hit of live NFL action.

Some fans have been waiting for a long time to see their team to play on this side of the Atlantic. The announcement of the NFL London games 2022 will be a contentious moment, just as it seems to be every year.
The stadia are awash with fans from every team. While British NFL fans will embrace whichever fixtures are sent across the timezones, each fanbase is naturally desperate to see their team on the field at Wembley or Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
There have been criticisms of the NFL’s approach to the London games. Luck has played a part, but it’s still not ideal to have never had two teams with winning records matchup in London. Are the NFL UK games 2022 the year that comes to an end?
Potential NFL London teams 2022
The Green Bay Packers are the only NFL team not to have played in London. While that’s led to years of speculation that Aaron Rodgers and co could finally play in the UK, Green Bay are naturally reluctant to give up a home game.
Their packed crowds at Lambeau Field are vital to the surrounding economy, and home teams benefit from travelling Packer fans when Green Bay heads on the road.
As ever, the Jacksonville Jaguars are a lock. They have an annual agreement to play a home game in London. While the Jags moving to London permanently seems like a longshot right now, the quality of NFL UK games 2022 will be markedly improved if Jacksonville is competitive.
The Dolphins and Jaguars provided the 10th NFL London game between two teams with losing records in 2021. Perhaps the 2022 NFL UK games are the time for the league to address this trend.
There are no guarantees in the NFL. A slow start to the year or injuries can undermine their plans, but the NFL could select matchups which have a much higher chance of featuring competitive teams.
The Cardinals and Chargers played in London in 2017 and 2018 respectively. Maybe it’s too soon for them to make the trip again, but both are in a small group of teams as good as locked in to contend in 2022.
The Rams’ appearance in 2019 might rule them out. Buffalo is due, though, having only played once in London, and that was back in 2015. The same could be said for the Ravens, who have also only played once in London.
Despite their struggles so far in 2021, the Kansas City Chiefs would be an incredibly popular pick for the NFL UK games 2022. The Bengals and Titans represent two other AFC options.
Any of those teams could end up under .500 by the time they get to London. Picking a combination of these franchises would still be a real statement from the NFL. British fans deserve an exciting NFL London schedule in 2022.
