Bears vs Jets

The Bears have made losing close games their specialty in recent weeks. Chicago’s last three losses have come by a combined seven points, so losing by a touchdown or more seems unlikely against the Jets, which is why we like Chicago against the spread in our NFL Week 12 predictions in 2022.

Justin Fields has come alive despite nursing an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. He’s not throwing for many yards, but he leads the league’s most potent rushing attack. As a result, the Bears are averaging 29.6 points per game over their last five games.

The Jets don’t want to find themselves in a high-scoring game against the Bears. Despite being 6-4, the Jets are at least considering a change at quarterback after averaging just 14 points per game over their last four games. Of course, they are strong defensively, allowing 17 points or less in five of their last six games. That should be enough for the Jets to win, although the Bears won’t make it comfortable.

  • SU Pick: Jets (-225)
  • ATS Pick: Bears +4.5 (-105)

Falcons vs Commanders

Despite their win over the Bears last week, the Falcons have some serious questions. They have the second-fewest passing yards in the league and just lost Kyle Pitts to injury. They’re also 1-4 on the road this season with their last two road losses coming by double digits.

Defensively, they’ve been vulnerable all year and don’t always have the offensive firepower to make up for it.

On the other hand, the Commanders continue to get the job done. Taylor Heinicke has been nothing if not efficient, using Washington’s playmakers wisely. Outside of a loss to the Vikings, they’ve won five of their last six games and are in the playoff hunt. While there have been a couple of close games during that stretch, they should be able to cover against a flawed Atlanta team.

  • SU Pick: Commanders (-215)
  • ATS Pick: Commanders -4.5 (-110)

Ravens vs Jaguars

Despite playing mostly competitive games, the Jaguars have lost six of their last seven. They also have a horrible record against the spread, which is why our NFL Week 12 predictions for 2022 have to go against them. While all but one of their losses have come by one possession, only one of Jacksonville’s losses has come by less than six points, which means this spread isn’t big enough for the Jags to beat.

Even after a sluggish offensive performance last week, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore offense should be able to manage more than 13 points this week.

The Jags are tough defensively, but the Ravens have only been held under 20 points twice this season. Likewise, the Baltimore defense has started to pick things up. That bodes well for the Ravens holding the Jacksonville offense to a low enough point total to cover the spread.

  • SU Pick: Ravens (-205)
  • ATS Pick: Ravens -4 (-110)

Rams vs Chiefs

The Rams have fallen far and hard this season. They’ve lost four in a row, Cooper Kupp is sidelined, and Matthew Stafford is questionable to play this week. On top of that, Aaron Donald is nowhere near the top of the NFL DPOY odds, as the Los Angeles defense has fallen into the middle of the pack.

That being said, this spread is far too big, as the Rams are desperate and should bring a good effort to Kansas City. Also, only the Bills and 49ers have been able to beat the Rams by more than two touchdowns.

Likewise, the Chiefs haven’t been able to blow out that many teams this season. Even with Patrick Mahomes leading the NFL MVP odds, only two of Kansas City’s wins have come by more than two touchdowns.

Even with Mahomes having a brilliant season, the Chiefs are conceding more than 23 points per game. That makes it tough to believe Kansas City can cover two touchdowns in our NFL picks for today.

  • SU Pick: Chiefs (-1100)
  • ATS Pick: Rams +14.5 (-110)

Packers vs Eagles

For the Packers, it might be all over but the crying. They have just one win in their last seven games and are just 1-4 on the road this season. Sustained periods of success for the Green Bay offense have been almost non-existent. Even with that upset win over the Cowboys, the Packers have scored 17 points or less in four of their last six games.

Keep in mind the Eagles are one of the best defensive teams in the NFL, conceding just 18.3 points per game. Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia offense have received most of the credit, but the Eagles have been strong defensively and just added Ndamukong Suh and Linval Joseph.

They may have shown some flaws in recent weeks, but six of Philly’s nine wins this year have come by at least a touchdown, so the odds are good that they’ll be able to cover this week against the struggling Packers.

  • SU Pick: Eagles (-300)
  • ATS Pick: Eagles -7 (-110)
