Ranking the best first basemen in MLB ahead of the 2020 season

Pete Alonso

Rookie years don’t get much better than the ball-crushing show Pete Alonso put on for the New York Mets.

Alonso’s Rookie of the Year award was well deserved. He hit 53 homers and walked 73 times. That alone is a solid formula to be a productive MLB hitter even before we add in the 32 other extra base hits and a .260 batting average.

Raw power like Alonso has is invaluable. In a Mets line-up loaded with big names, he was far and away their best hitter and is already an All-Star.
