The majority of the Celtics trade targets 2022 complement the talents of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The team badly needs a third option next to these two. Marcus Smart and Dennis Schroder clearly don’t fit this resume and are rumored to be on the trading block already.

Celtics trade targets 2022

The Celtics proved that they can be a .500 team with the core of Tatum and Brown. However, they are still far from being legitimate contenders that will go head-to-head with powerhouse teams like the Heat and Nets.

Boston may be on a five-game winning streak right now but they have some major problems on the offensive end. The C’s are ranked 20th in offensive rating and 20th in assists per game in the league. They can’t just rely on their two superstars to carry the offensive load all the time.

Getting a third option who can act as a glue guy is the dream trade scenario for Boston. Here are the best Celtics trade deadline ideas…

Harrison Barnes

Harrison Barnes is one of the best players available at the trade deadline. He’s having a stellar season with 16.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game on 46% shooting on the floor and 41% from beyond the arc.

Acquiring the 29-year-old veteran is a huge move for the Celtics. They now have a real and versatile power forward who can play in the post and stretch the floor well. His catch-and-shoot ability is elite as he’s connecting 43.6% of his threes on 3.8 attempts per game.

Fitting in with Tatum and Brown should be no problem since he has proven himself to thrive alongside high-volume guys like De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, and Buddy Hield in Sacramento.

Getting him would mean that the Celtics will need to exchange Al Horford and a future first-round pick for Harrison Barnes and Alex Len. Len is included to match salaries. They can also include one of their young talents to make the deal enticing.

Coby White

It’s already clear that Chicago is going all in to contend for the championship this season. Thus, they have the incentive to trade their young talents in order to get the right championship pieces.

This makes Coby White a solid target for the Celtics. The former lottery pick is averaging 13 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game on 44% shooting on the floor and 36% from beyond the arc.

White is one of the best young scoring guards out there who can shoot the lights out anywhere on the floor. His playmaking can still improve but it’s there. After all, he’s still 21 years old and continues to develop each season.

The deal between Boston and Chicago will be centered around Schroder and White. The Bulls getting Schroder will give them a veteran point guard who knows Donovan’s system already and to fill the hole left by Ball and Caruso. Meanwhile, the Celtics will be getting a young stud in White.

Boston may need to add some assets to sweeten the pot on this deal. As you can see, this trade is ideal for both teams.

Buddy Hield

Another Kings player on this list, Buddy Hield is one of the players that we often see in the latest Celtics trade news. His high-volume and efficient three-point shooting could provide additional firepower for the Cs.

Boston is ranked 22nd in three-point percentage while taking 36.3 attempts per game. This is something that Hield could fix while thriving in a third-wheel role with the two Jays.

Hield is currently averaging 14.4 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 37% from beyond the arc on 9 attempts per game. His numbers are on a decline but we put the blame on his diminishing role in Sacramento for the past two seasons.

It was rumored that the Kings are shopping Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley as a package. Getting Bagley is icing on the cake for the C’s. He struggled for the past few seasons in Sacramento but a new role can revitalize his career.

The Celtics can offer Al Horford, Aaron Nesmith, and a future first-round pick for these two.
