Terron Armstead free agency 2022 is expected to be quite interesting. He’s one of the best NFL free agents in 2022 and with several teams looking to revamp their offensive line, he’s due for a big payday.
Armstead spent the past seven years giving Drew Brees some time to breathe and top-notch protection. But with Sean Payton walking away and retiring, the New Orleans Saints have no use for an up-and-coming tackle eating up a big chunk of their cap space.

As much as they’d love to keep him on board, the Saints don’t even know who’ll start at quarterback for them next season, so you might as well rule them out as one of Terron Armstead‘s free agent fits.
After making nearly $70 million in nine seasons in the Big Easy and $11 million last year, Armstead is expected to fetch a big contract. According to Spotrac’s projection, he could be valued at nearly $24 million per year in his new deal.
5. Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of those teams who could use a helping hand on every single position. Outside of Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, and James Robinson; no one should be safe. Also, they’re one of the teams with the most cap space heading into the offseason.
The Jaguars’ offensive line allowed opponents to sack Lawrence 32 times. While he didn’t show much promise during his rookie year, it’s not like they put him in a position to succeed. Cam Robinson is expected to leave in free agency, so they might as well spend some big bucks in Armstead.
4. Bears
The Chicago Bears are expected to build around Justin Fields once and for all. And no quarterback, especially those dual-threat, younger guys, can succeed without protection. Notably, the Bears allowed a league-worst 58 sacks throughout the season.
Newly-appointed HC Matt Eberflus talked about revamping their offensive line in free agency. They have north of $30 million in cap space and could put that to good use with Armstead. The Bears need to give their franchise QB a helping hand.
3. Colts
The Indianapolis Colts were a competent quarterback away from making the playoffs last season. But as much as Carson Wentz shot himself in the foot over and over, they often struggled to protect the blind side as well. That should change for next season.
Frank Reich is reportedly on the hot seat and the Colts have more than enough money to spare in the offseason. It’s now or never for the Colts so they better put their cap space to good use. Also, they’re expected to have a new gunslinger behind center next season.
2. Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins may have set themselves back a couple of years by letting go of HC Brian Flores. Now, it’ll all depend on whether they’re able to revamp the offensive line and finally give Tua Tagovailoa some much-needed protection.
The Dolphins had one of the worst offensive lines last season, allowing nearly 240 QB pressures. Liam Eichenberg shouldn’t be a starter in the league anymore after allowing 9 sacks and 10 penalties. They have the most cap space, so look for them to be quite aggressive in the offseason.
1. Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals were one competent left tackle away from winning the Super Bowl. It’s as simple as that. They were historically bad in the postseason, yet Joe Burrow continued to work his magic and find ways to lead the offense to success.
But this is unsustainable. The Bengals’ line was to blame for Burrow’s season-ending injury in his rookie year and then they cost them a ring. They have plenty of cash to spare, so expect them to lead the race for Armstead’s services.
