14th pick: Malik Monk
It’s been a challenging three years in the NBA for Malik Monk. Down the pecking order in his first two campaigns, Monk has been marginalised by Devonte’ Graham’s stellar 2019/20 season, leaving him with inconsistent minutes. He’s shot the ball poorly, too.
The Hornets haven’t been set up to bring the best out of Monk. They are too slow, and Monk is a peripheral figure on offence.
Ball-handling is an issue for Monk – he’s turning it over 1.4 times per game – and he’s yet to prove himself as a reliable pick and roll ball handler. Regardless of his future as a one or a two, there’s promise that he can be an offensive threat.
Year four is a significant one in his development.
