6th pick: John Collins
With a developing perimeter game, John Collins’ future has shifted from the five to the four with the arrival of Clint Capela.
Trade rumours continue for Collins, and he’s still searching for his role in the NBA. He looked a great pick-and-roll rim runner, but struggles to defend centres. Capela’s arrival forces him to become more of a shooter. Luckily, he’s shown a good touch from range, hitting over 40% of his threes this season.
Collins’ future is uncertain. Like many of the Hawks, his defence needs work. There’s an impressive skillset there, though, and a flexibility to play smallball five or the four.
