Re-drafting the 2017 NBA Draft

8th pick: Lauri Markkanen

Injuries and general chaos on the Bulls have hampered Lauri Markkanen’s development. An exciting partnership with Wendell Carter Jr. has never really developed. Markkanen has played hurt, his role has changed, and he’s struggled to build on being first team All-Rookie in 2017/18.

As a seven footer who can shoot threes, and rebound, Markkanen’s ceiling is still incredibly high. A better fitting Chicago roster is needed for him to really flourish, and a playmaking ball handler would be beneficial to the team as a whole.

Some will think Markkanen is the player he has shown so far – they will want him outside the top 10. His upside, though, is strong enough to get him eighth here.
