2nd pick: Donovan Mitchell
Ben Simmons stopped Donovan Mitchell winning Rookie of the Year. As was the centre of the debate at the time, Simmons isn’t in this class, so Mitchell slots in second in our draft.
The strength of the Western Conference has worked against Mitchell, seeing him only notch one All-Star selection to date. Who knows how many are to come, and comparisons with Dwyane Wade were undoubtedly premature, but Mitchell has already consolidated his position as one of the league’s premier two guards.
At a smidgen over six-feet, Mitchell is undersized for the two guard, but needs his vision and passing to improve if he’s to switch to point in the near future.
